It is heartening to read Julian Freeman-Attwood’s comments (letter, Jan 14) on the importance of wildlife corridors. Government policy must be bold and not just link farms, but get farmers working together to achieve the best for Britain’s wildlife.
Farmer clusters in the Avon Valley and encircling Martin Down have put farmers at the heart of conservation and the results are there for all to see – recovering local lapwing populations, creating turtle dove ponds, boosting butterfly numbers and much more. Driven by the farmers themselves, this blueprint offers real hope for the future.
